For a quintessential London outing, look no further than Elizabeth Street in Belgravia, a five-minute black-cab ride from the hotel. This charming street dates back to the 1860s and is chockablock with boutiques and cafés. It’s no wonder venerable Parisian breadmaker Poilâne chose to open an outpost here, just a few doors down from The Thomas Cubitt House, a light-filled, modern pub and the de facto meeting place for the whole neighborhood. Donna Ida draws denim devotees for the most highly curated selection of jeans—and the expertise to pick the perfect pair for any body type. Across the street, the new (and super-posh) Stivaleria Cavallin has covetable bespoke boots in every manner of leather and exotic skin, handmade in Italy. For another dose of sartorial luxury, head to Philip Treacy, the renowned British hatmaker. Peggy Porschen’s cupcakes, sold from her namesake corner bakery, are a favorite of Kate Moss (try the strawberries-and-champagne), and everybody loves the flat whites at Tomtom Coffee on the opposite corner (which also operates a popular cigar shop up the block). For a quick blowout, the new salon Blo by Real Hair is just the ticket.
From Victoria Station, walk down Elizabeth Street. You can’t go wrong with the boutiques and cafes along the way. Be sure to make a right on Ebury Street to taste London’s favorite cupcakes and have a flat white at TomTom.
